Abstract

Transmits letter of 12 June 2001 from the Minister of Foreign Affairs informing the Executive Secretary of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) that the Government of Liberia has captured mortar ammunition cases and spent cartriges with the United Kingdom Government inscription allegedly used in Lofa County by rebel forces attacking from the territory of Guinea; requests the ECOWAS Executive Secretariat to request from the British Government an explanation as how rebels fighting the Liberian Government obtained ammunition similar to that which it supplied the army of neighbouring Sierra Leone.
