Abstract

My chapter discusses the implications for the freedom of aviation under international law (especially the Chicago Convention 1944 and related treaties) when a state or a group of states imposes sanctions against another state, and the remedies available to the latter. It does so with reference to the reinstatement of US sanctions against Iran and, in particular, the restrictions affecting Qatar-registered aircraft as a result of the Gulf airspace blockade.
