Abstract
Postal services make it possible for any person to send a letter, packet or parcel to a domestic or international addressee, according to certain established standards of regularity, speed and security. The importance of correspondence has been recognised in Article 12 of the Universal declaration of Human Rights, which states that ‘no one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, not to attack upon his honour and reputation’. Postal service as a medium of communication and information exchange remains especially relevant for areas that are remote and are not yet on the digital map. For regions and areas that are not connected with modern technology, the postal service has important role in the cultural and social life of the people living there.
