This study will focus on the gap in the framework regulating the use of sanctions and the need for a better international legislation. Clear rules should be aimed at increasing the effectiveness and credibility of sanctions as instruments to enforce compliance with international law and to maintain peace and security in line with recent theories and developments in their use.
