Transmits statement made by the Minister for Foreign Affairs to a representative of the Iraqi News Agency, 10 Oct. 1994.
Concerns the fact that since the presence of units of the Republican Guard in Basra could be used as a pretext to resist the request for lifting sanctions imposed on Iraq, it has been decided to redeploy those units to different positions in order to complete the planned exercises.
